Project Information

RAZ and RAS have worked on a cumulative project portfolio exceeding 20MW of completed projects in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Current major projects at the design stage include:

  1. The Kariba Floating Solar Project.

This is being built in conjunction with other parties, led by CDF Trust, which is handling the project fund-raising as well as coordination, and China Engineering Energy Group (CEEG) which is the main EPC. RAZ will be sub-contracted by CEEG. The project will be built in phases of 250MW, and will likely incorporate Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS).

  1. BESS with solar PV for a number of mines

The company has a number of planned BESS with solar PV projects, ranging from 5MW (10MWh) to 100MW (200MWh) with a number of mines and large manufacturers. The financing is being provided by TB Bank and Afreximbank.

  1. AfriLeaf (Private) Limited:

A 20MW hybrid energy project which has just commenced. It is meant to deliver 24/7/365 electricity for a horticultural project producing medicinal cannabis for export to Europe. The energy offering includes solar with storage (15MWp and 30MWh storage), and ZESA utility power.

The Company has also collaborated with New Sahara Limited on a number of large solar projects, ranging from 500kW to 10MW.

RAZ also collaborates with Solar Shack and is involved in a project with them to build a total portfolio of solar projects for the Airports Company of Zimbabwe.

The Company also delivered on the solarisation of 16 Healthcare Facilities in Gokwe (North and South) and 8 Health Care Facilities in Manicaland (Chipinge and Chimanimani).

RAZ also serves various rural communities, and has designed and implemented a proof of concept project in Chikomba District, a remote village community, where a micro-grid was built to supply electricity to 3 homesteads, which also are served by a 10m³ biogas digester which supplies 3 kitchens with biogas. Cooking is supplemented by parabolic solar cookers at each of the 3 homesteads. A 40m deep prolific borehole with a 10,000 litre elevated tank supplies water to the 3 homesteads, which now have year round agriculture via drip irrigation
